A NEW CHART FOR DEFECTING ASYMMETRIC LOSS

Abstract: It is in practice to design control charts under an asymmetric quality loss function. This paper proposes charts with asymmetric sampling intervals, with an objective function of Taguchis quality loss during out-of-control period. Numerical results indicate that, when out-of-control condition occurs in the initial moment, control charts with asymmetric sampling intervals are more efficient than that with symmetric sampling intervals. Moreover, the longer the distance between the two sampling intervals is, the larger loss coefficient rate is, the larger shift magnitude is, the more efficient the proposed charts are. If the shift occurs during operation, then the asymmetric sampling intervals charts are better when the shift magnitudes were small. |
