Abstract: The shifting trends in the exchange rate of currency of seven underdeveloped countries are examined in relation to exchange rate of currencies of some developed countries. The study shows that the pattern of movement between the currencies of underdeveloped and developed countries is in opposite direction. Among the currencies of underdeveloped countries examined in this study, the Zimbabwean Dollar recorded the highest depreciation of 1,447% between 2005 and 2006 while the Nigerian Naira recorded the highest appreciation of 4.79% between 2005 and 2006 for the period of study. |
