ON THE USE OF DESIGN OF EXPERIMENTS IN THE CLUSTER SAMPLING

Abstract: An
attempt was made to carry out the analysis of
cluster sampling by applying the standard
technique of split-plot design. The main
assumption was that a sample of n
clusters, each having M units (a
multiple of number of investigators) is
selected. Each of the t investigators
is asked to collect the data on an equal
number, r, of units in each of the
selected clusters. An empirical study on it
was carried out to investigate the cluster
effects, investigators’ bias as well as the
interaction between the two. |
Keywords and phrases: cluster, interaction, investigators’ bias, mixed-effects model, split-plot design. |
