A NOTE ON ANALYZING DATA WITH UNDETECTED OBSERVATIONS

Abstract: There are several different ways to deal with undetected values when statistical analysis is used for normally distributed or lognormally distributed samples. One of the methods was recommended by McBean and Rovers [5]. It is shown in this paper that the method recommended by McBean and Rovers is not scale-invariant. A new method for conducting statistical analyses for such kind of data is proposed in this paper. The method is used to analyze the air pollution data provided in Shumway et al. [8]. To evaluate the performance of the method proposed in this paper, statistical simulation is conducted. |
Keywords and phrases: environmental data, detection level, scale-invariant, undetected observation. |
