Abstract: In this paper, we are concerned with multiple comparison problems in a one-way layout under the general setting with continuous population distributions. Of interest are the comparisons of successive treatments when the treatment effects are expected to be increasing or decreasing with treatment levels. Let
be the random variable correspondingto the ith group, To make the comparisons, we construct simultaneous confidence regions for probabilities A simulation study is conducted to investigate the coverage probability of the proposed simultaneous lower confidence bounds for the probability and the ones suggested by Lee and Spurrier [9] for comparing successive population medians. Finally, the proposed confidence region is illustrated by using a data set from a subchronic studyofachemicalonliverdamage conducted by the National Toxicology Program. |
Keywords and phrases: Mann-Whitney statistic, multiple comparison procedure, simultaneous confidence region, successive treatments. |
