Abstract: The difficulty in accessing loans is one of the major barriers in the development of SMEs in Vietnam. Difficult access to capital forces SMEs to both incur additional costs, both formal and informal, to obtain loans, or/and access the informal market at higher interest rates, thereby increasing production costs of the enterprise. To clarify this issue, the study uses a logistic model to quantify factors affecting SMEs’ ability to access capital. Results of the study show that the improvement of institutions, business environment and internal problems of enterprise related to scale of operations, results from business operations, creditworthiness will help SMEs to increase access to capital from credit institutions. |
