Abstract: This study examines the determinants which are influencing the opinion about violence against women at the national level of Bangladesh. Though most of the previous studies focused on the factors affecting violence against women, in this study, we used Bangladesh Demographic Health Survey 2014 data considering five models for justification for five different reasons of violence about neglecting children, arguing with husband, burning food, going outside without husband’s permission, refusing to have sex with husband as response variables. For each model, we considered women’s education, age, age difference with husband, marital age, religion, wealth index, working status, region, media exposure, type of living area, having son and NGO involvement as covariates. The logistics regression model is employed for the modeling of the opinions of the women. However, we did find reason to believe that economic condition and lack of education may be the underlying factors to influence the opinions of women. |
