Abstract: In this paper, we proposed a new generalized estimator for finite population variance by using a single auxiliary variable in systematic random sampling. The expressions of approximate bias and mean square error of the proposed estimator are derived. We tried to find out some special cases of generalized estimator using different combinations of real numbers and various conventional and non-conventional parameters of the auxiliary variable. Algebraic comparisons of the proposed estimator have been made with sample variance, classical ratio, and product-type estimators. The performance of the proposed estimators is evaluated by both empirical and simulation study on two real populations. |
