MEASURE OF DEPARTURE FROM SYMMETRY USING CUMULATIVE PROBABILITY FOR SQUARE CONTINGENCY TABLES WITH ORDERED CATEGORIES

Abstract: For square contingency tables with ordered categories, Tomizawa et al. [12] proposed the measure to represent the degree of departure from symmetry which does not depend on the diagonal cell probabilities. The present paper proposes a new measure for the symmetry, depending on the diagonal cell probabilities. The measure is expressed as a function of the cumulative probabilities that an observation falls in row (column) category ior below and column (row) category jor above. |
