Abstract: The purpose of this work is to arrive at a conclusion of teacher research for academic rank promotion of senior professional teachers in southern border provinces by random-effects meta-analysis model. The 15 research studies from 6 primary educational service areas are the subjects of this research. All research studies are single-group pretest-posttest design and assumed that all studies have corresponding true effect sizes. The standardized mean difference is the effect size of this research. The summary effect size of all studies is highly significant but relatively small. The test of homogeneity of effect sizes is performed and the result indicates substantial between-studies variance that affects the suitability of the random-effects model. The causes of this problem are, firstly, the small number of studies that leads to the insufficient of information for estimating the between-studies variance. Secondly, there are some influential factors that increase the size of heterogeneity. |
