Abstract: This paper proposes a novel approach for confidence interval estimation of the common mean of one-parameter exponential distributions using adjusted method of variance estimates recovery approach and compared with generalized confidence interval approach and large sample approach. A Monte Carlo simulation was conducted to evaluate the performance, coverage probability and average length of the confidence intervals. The results indicated that the adjusted method of variance estimates recovery approach provided the best confidence interval in terms of coverage probabilities. Moreover, the adjusted method of variance estimates recovery approach can be considered as an alternative to estimate the confidence interval for common one-parameter exponential mean. Finally, the proposed approaches are illustrated by an example. |
