ANALYTICAL SOLUTION ON ENTROPY GENERATION IN A PIPE DUE TO NON-NEWTONIAN FLUID FLOW
The heterogeneous mixture of solid particles in a fluid flow through pipe can be evaluated as third grade non-Newtonian fluid. The rate of entropy generation in such fluids depends on shear viscosity. The flow of fluid is considered to be thermodynamically compatible and incompressible and the results are presented by assuming the shear viscosity as the function of temperature. Various viscosity models such as constant viscosity, Vogel, Reynolds and collocation models are used for predicting the entropy generation number. From the analysis, it is observed that the entropy generation rate is very higher at the wall and reduces drastically at the center of the pipe for fluid friction and heat transfer.
