SELECTION AND RANKING OF PHASE CHANGE MATERIALS FOR A LATENT HEAT STORAGE BY USING SUPER DECISIONS SOFTWARE V3
This paper proposes a method of selecting and ranking of selected number of the phase change materials (PCMs) for a latent heat storage application. Making a choice of a better candidate, PCM often is not an easy and straight task since the choice depends on numerous criteria: on one hand, some of those criteria must be maximised (latent heat of fusion, thermal conductivity), and on the other hand, properties such as cost, supercooling, variation of volume during the change of phase, etc. must be minimised.
Super Decisions software which is relying on analytical hierarchy process (AHP) can serve as an important tool to assist on the choice and ranking of PCMs. A case study was conducted to illustrate the suggested application of the method. It is expected that this research work will contribute meaningfully to the selection of PCMs.
