NUMERICAL SOLUTION OF ONE-DIMENSIONAL BIO-HEAT TRANSFER ON HUMAN HEAD TISSUE PROBLEM BY FINITE ELEMENT METHOD
In this research, we study a numerical solution of one-dimensional bio-heat transfer of human head tissue based on the finite element method (FEM). Human tissue was assumed to consist of several layers. Each layer represented an independent biological tissue characterized by temperature-invariant physiological parameters and linearly temperature dependent metabolic heat generation. This numerical solution was validated with analytical and experimental results and obtained an error value of less than 15%. Magnetic fluid hyperthermia (MFH) was used as an external heat source for heating the tumor region. MFH treatment in the head tissue causes an increase of temperature in the tumor tissue. This means that MFH heats the tumor region only and does not affect healthy tissue.
