SUBCOOLED POOL BOILING OF WATER FROM V-SHAPE TUBE ARRAY

Abstract: An experimental study was performed to investigate pool heat transfer of subcooled water from a V-shape tube array in vertical alignment. The effect of the heat flux of a lower tube was also investigated. For the test, two heated stainless steel tubes of 19 mm diameter and the water at atmospheric pressure were used. The included angle between the tubes is 6°. The bundle effect is decreasing as the liquid subcooling increases whereas it is increased as the heat flux of the lower tube increases. The increase in the bundle effect is clearly observed as the heat flux of the upper tube is low. This tendency is related to the convective flow and the sizes of the generated bubbles. |
