Abstract: The regularities of Co mass transfer through the liquid phase and the growth of cobalt particles in sintering the Sn-Cu-Co and Sn-Cu-Co-W powder materials were studied. The metallic powders of technical purity grade were mixed with an organic binder and applied on steel rollers with shaping and drying. The specimens were sintered in vacuum at the temperature of 820 and 1100°C. It has been found that the speed of Co mass transfer is limited by the speed of diffusion of its atoms in the liquid phase. The size of Co particles rises as the duration of sintering is increased. When the sintering temperature is raised, dissolving of W in the liquid phase slows down the diffusion of Co and growth of its particles. Growth of Co particles is also contributed to by their coalescence which is intensified if the sintering temperature is increased up to 1100°C. |
