We consider a general constrained variational problem and the corresponding Euler-Lagrange equation. These problems have been solved by several analytic and numerical approaches. In geometric approach, using the invariance of the Euler-Lagrange equation under changes of variable, a one-parameter group of variational symmetries of the equation is obtained.
