Ever since its advent wireless technology has been changing rapidly and has been taking a new form every other day. It has now, literally entered into every sphere of life, right from the start of the day through the end. The impact has been so heavy that life without wireless technology today is so far from imagination. Through this paper, we bring out some of the emerging wireless technologies out of which a few are already in practice a few are yet under implementation stage in some parts of the world. These technologies include IoT (Internet of Things), cognitive radio and femto cell. The architecture of each of the above mentioned technologies, with a brief note on implementation, challenges involved in design and scope for implementation are discussed.
