MINIATURISATION OF AN ENHANCED PERFORMANCE DUAL-BAND MICROWAVE POWER DIVIDER
In this paper, an enhanced performance dual-band power divider with respect to output return loss and port isolation is presented. The proposed circuit features a transmission line only structure (plus the isolation resistor). In this way the parasitic effects of lumped components are avoided. Additionally, it provides design flexibility and easy implementation by employing realistic characteristic impedance values. The mathematical analysis and the extraction of the design equations are based on the even and odd-mode analysis. A prototype is fabricated on a microstrip substrate and measurements are performed to corroborate the predicted data. Subsequently the circuit is miniaturised using a high dielectric and low loss ceramic material and its performance is tested using a 3D electromagnetic simulator.
