In this paper, we investigate overflow detection in Residue Number System (RNS), which is a very important issue concerning the utilization of RNS in Digital Signal Processing applications. We propose a new algorithm for detecting overflow in RNS based on moduli set where M is the system dynamic range. Based on the new algorithm, we present an integrated overflow detection scheme. Theoretical analysis shows that our proposals utilize less hardware when compared to the best known similar state of the art design.
