SUPERCONTINUUM GENERATION FROM HIGHLY NONLINEAR DISPERSION-SHIFTED FIBER USING LOW-PEAK-POWER FIBER LASER SYSTEM
We investigated the characteristics of 606 fs pulse propagation in a highly nonlinear dispersion-shifted fiber (HN-DSF). A mode-locked Er-doped fiber laser (EDFL) pulse was directly used for the 50 m HN-DSF propagation, and the spectrum was broadened from 1300 to 1800 nm. Next, the EDFL pulse was amplified to a peak power of 1.31 kW by an Er-doped fiber amplifier (EDFA) and propagated in the 50-m-long HN-DSF. Finally, a supercontinuum from 1251.2 to 1951.3 nm was generated by an amplified 606 fs pulse.
