CONCEPTUALIZATION OF DATA SECURITY IN INTERNET OF THINGS (IoT) USINGBLOCKCHAIN PRINCIPLES
This paper explores an approach to achieve data security in Internet of Things (IoT) scenarios by leveraging principles of blockchain technology. Data from IoT devices, like sensors, if not secured will be exposed to unauthorized access and data manipulation or corruption. Blockchain offers a data verification mechanism which is decentralized and reliable. Evolving IoT architectures advocate the usage of edge devices with ‘lightweight compute and storage’ capability, backed by a cloud platform which is infinitely scalable. Intelligence on the edge enables data to be pre-processed and secured for transmission to the cloud, where the data packages will be processed, analyzed and stored.
