NEW CAPACITY FORMULA FOR STEGANOGRAPHY USING DISCRETE WAVELET TRANSFORM
Steganography is a technique for data hiding, widely used in various information secure applications. One of steganography techniques is discrete wavelet transform (DWT). Some information hiding algorithms based on DWT have been proposed, but there is no fixed formula to calculate the embedding capacity of the cover image. This paper proposed a formula to calculate maximum embedding capacity for steganography with DWT that does not reduce the stego image quality. Based on the test taken, average PSNR result by embedding 100% data from the maximum capacity is 53.20. It means that the proposed formula can be used to limit the hidden message so that the stego image quality is still good.
