This paper introduces the project implementation known as System of Differential Correction and Monitoring (SDCM) for Russia and Commonwealth of Independent States (CIS). At this point, 12 former Soviet Republics, except three Baltic States participated in the CIS cooperation. The SDCM project was designed under the leading role of the Russian Institute of Space Device Engineering (RISDE), situated in Moscow. The work has begun in accordance with the contract with the Federal Space Agency of Russia (Roscosmos). This contract was signed within the frames of the Federal Mission Oriented Program named GLONASS. The described system is being under construction since 2002, and in 2006 the part of it dedicated to integrity monitoring was put into operation. The space and ground segment with their composition and functions including some information on basic steps on the way to SDCM implementation are described.
