CIRCULARLY POLARIZED HIGH-GAIN ANTENNA USING METASURFACE FOR C-BAND APPLICATION
In this paper, a design methodology of high gain antenna with circular polarization based on metasurface technique at C-band is presented. The proposed antenna consists of two layers coupled through two separated aperture-coupling slots designed on the ground plane. The nonuniform metallic patch metasurface is designed at the top side of the upper substrate, while microstrip feed line is designed at the back side of the bottom substrate. The optimization of the two separated aperture-coupling slots as well as the unit cells of the metasurface has achieved high gain and circular polarization property. The simulated results show that the antenna achieves a gain greater than 10dB, axial ratio of 1.2dB and axial ratio bandwidth of more than 23%. Beside gain and polarization enhancement, this antenna has a wide bandwidth of 504.7MHz. These benefits of the proposed antenna make it suitable for satellite and radar applications.
