PERFORMANCE ENHANCEMENT OF SPECTRUM SENSING IN COGNITIVE RADIO USING GENETIC ALGORITHM
In cognitive radio (CR) networks, the vacant spectrum slots of primary user (PUs) are shared by secondary users (SUs), and in this way spectrum utilization is enhanced. The secondary user shares the spectrum of primary user by a pre-defined method of spectrum sensing. In this paper, distributed cooperative spectrum sensing method is used to enhance the performance of spectrum sensingby maximization of probability of detection and minimization of probability of false alarm. In this scheme, the entire spectrum sensing time is sub-divided into a number of multi-slots. Genetic algorithm (GA) is used to optimize bit error probability (BEP), probability of detection and probability of false alarm to achieve better solution for spectrum sensing in cognitive radio network.
