This article is introducing the development of new technologies in the terrestrial telecommunication industry right across the globe. The previous and current networks and access technologies, on which most telecommunication operators rely, have used the same fundamental elements for decades. These networks and access techniques are now changing with a move to completely new solutions known as next generation networks (NGN) and next generation access networks (NGAN). The results of these changes are implementation of next generation core networks (NGCN).
