STAR PATCH ANTENNA FOR ISM BAND APPLICATIONS
This paper proposes star patch antenna for ISM band applications. The dimension of the antenna is optimized using commercially available software, Computer Simulation Technology (CST) Microwave Studio. The antenna was fabricated on two substrate materials: FR4 and polyimide film. The polyimide film has a better performance in terms of flexibility, low loss tangent, dielectric constant, and high stability for the wearable application. The antenna provides reflection loss of –27.67dB at 2.45GHz with 610MHz in –10dB. From the simulation and measurement, it is found that the star patch antenna offers the best performance in terms of return loss, bandwidth, radiation pattern, and gain. Star patch antenna shows less effect on being bent. It can be observed that the measured performance of the fabricated antenna is in very close agreement with the computer model.
