PERFORMANCE ANALYSIS OF FBMC TRANSCEIVER ARCHITECTURE OVER OFDM SYSTEM
Most of the recent researches in communication systems are trying to improve the system performance in terms of better spectral efficiency, reducing the BER and less hardware complexity. Multicarrier technique is one of the prominent modulation schemes widely used for multipath data transmission in digital communication system to improve the transmit spectrum of data stream. The OFDM is one of the multicarrier modulation schemes which uses orthogonality principle for multiple data transmission. OFDM technique allots unique frequency for each different carrier and will have a unique symbol. To distinguish each subcarrier in OFDM technique, cyclic prefix (CP) is used and it gives more redundancy and loss of spectral containment. To overcome the drawbacks of conventional OFDM system, a filter bank multicarrier (FBMC) technique is used which does not require cyclic prefix (CP). This technique is considered as filtered OFDM in which frequency spectrum is divided into many subchannels by using general prototype filters. With this aspect presented, the design and implementation of FBMC transceiver architecture in Artix7 FPGA kit includes both transmitter and receiver. Then analyzed the performance analysis of both the systems in terms of transmit spectrum, BER, SNR, latency and throughput. Finally, our proposed FBMC system design gives better performance compared with conventional OFDM systems.
