MOBILE POSITION ESTIMATION TECHNIQUES IN WIRELESS SENSOR NETWORKS: A COMPARATIVE STUDY
The main intention of this study on analysis of various technologies of mobile position estimation methodologies is to project the best positioning technique of the mobile nodes that are present in wireless sensor networks. Position estimation method in WSN is used for estimating the location of an object from a group of noisy surroundings. To do so, this study is performed on different research works that are utilized currently in terms of attaining the qualified position or location estimation of the mobile nodes. The study is based on the merits and demerits of the techniques proposed and also using the parameters that project the performance of the system. In this analysis, the efficient position estimation techniques including SPCT, TOA based MLE, SA-CN, PLI, ML estimation and SOCP relaxation methods and IKF-GMD algorithms are presented and the performance of each technique is evaluated to determine the efficient position estimation technique. Comparisons are made on the evaluated protocols used in positioning techniques and it is proved that the IKF-GMD technique and ML estimation and SOCP relaxation methods provide better performance for the position estimation in WSN. The findings of the research also show that both the methods overcome the problems and also provide acceptable rates of average localization error, mean square error, variance, computation time, and cumulative function in WSN.
