TRANSMIT ANTENNA SELECTION IN MIMO FOR CONTINUOUS PHASE MODULATION SYSTEMS
Transmit antenna selection (TAS) technique is widely used in multiple input multiple output (MIMO) systems as it reduces the hardware complexity of multiple antennas giving all the diversity benefits of MIMO. The TAS technique proposed in literature is mainly considered with the linear modulation techniques using space time block codes (STBC). The detailed bit error rate analysis was carried out for TAS in MIMO by considering different linear modulation techniques in literature. In this paper, TAS technique is proposed for two transmit antennas selection in MIMO system with nonlinear continuous phase modulation (CPM). The closed form equations are derived for pair-wise error probability of TAS in MIMO for CPM system with different MIMO configurations. The upper bound is derived for frame error rate (FER) for the proposed TAS system using order statistics theory. The performance analysis of the TAS based MIMO CPM system is carried out for flat Rayleigh fading channel with different number of transmitting and receiving antennas for with and without TAS case using STBC.
