OPTIMAL POSITIONING OF BASE STATION IN WIRELESS SENSOR NETWORKS
Efficient utilization of energy resource is a primary concern in wireless sensor network. The nodes farther from the base station transmit the data to extended distances compared with the closer ones. This increases the energy variance of the nodes and the energy of the farther nodes is depleted rapidly. Considering this fact, a heuristic algorithm is proposed to identify the optimal location of the base station in order to reduce the energy dissipation of the nodes and improve the energy balance in the network. Using the farther nodes, feasible locations of base station are found which, in turn, improve our algorithm and giving the best point for positioning the base station. The simulation results indicate that our algorithm provides a better location for the base station than the earlier methods which is evident by the reduction in the overall energy consumption.
