SOFTWARE EVOLUTION ON EDC TO SUPPORT PIN-BASED CREDIT CARD
Based on a circular letter from Central Bank of Indonesia No. 16/25/DKSP, all credit cards issued by Indonesian banks should use 6 digits online PIN by July 31, 2015. The policy causes software evolution for all EDC machines from acquirer bank. The change is needed to support PIN verification on credit cards that use online PIN CVM (Cardholder Verification Method) and on a credit card that uses signature CVM. Also, PIN verification is used for local credit cards with entry mode swipe/magnetic stripe. This project internship discusses the process of implementation which done on acquirer bank EDC machines to fulfill the requirement mentioned before based on SDLC (Software Development Lifecycle) process. It is expected with the use of online PIN verification, fraud which caused by missing or stolen card can be reduced and minimized.
