The use of reusable artifacts has become important to produce larger and more complex software systems. Component-based software engineering (CBSE) focused on the design and implementation of software components, and systems built from software components.  So CBSE handles the entire lifecycle of component-based software systems, and requires several changes in development and lifecycle of software products.

In this paper, we propose a component-based development model, named as “spiral model for component-based software development.” We use spiral model with some adaptions for the development of component-based software products and describe the framework activities of component-based software development model along with that of the component assessment process.
