With the increasing use of wireless ad-hoc network in communication, security is becoming a critical issue for various applications. A wireless ad-hoc network is very much exposed to different types of attacks and the most common one is the Sybil attack. A Sybil node tries to assume a false identity of other nodes from a network by broadcasting packets with multiple node IDs in order to get access into that network. Once it gains access into that network, it can lead to other type of attacks. So, there is the need of some efficient method for the detection and prevention of Sybil attack. In this paper, we present a review on the existing methods for the detection and prevention of Sybil attack in wireless ad-hoc network. Also, a brief review on other types of network attacks is presented.
