DESIGN OF A COMPACT DUAL BAND ANTENNA FOR USB DONGLE APPLICATIONS
This paper proposes a compact antenna for wireless universal serial bus (USB) device application. The antenna consists of a rectangular slot on the ground plane. This slot generates a 2.6 GHz band for 4G LTE, 2.4 GHz band for WLAN and 3.5 GHz band for Worldwide Interoperability for Microwave Access (WiMAX). The designed antenna has dimensions of 25mm × 42mm × 0.8mm and can be easily integrated into a wireless USB dongle. The impedance bandwidth of the antenna ranges from 2.26-3.88GHz for WLAN (2.4-2.484 GHz), 4G LTE (2.5-2.7 GHz) and WiMAX (3.3-3.8 GHz) applications. The proposed antenna is designed using Ansoft HFSS. The prototype of the simulated antenna has been fabricated and measured for the verification of results.
