DENOISING HIGH DENSITY SALT AND PEPPER NOISE IMAGE BASED ON EUCLIDEAN-LIKE DISTANCE
We propose a new denoising algorithm on grayscale and color images corrupted by salt and pepper noise. Our algorithm is separated into 2 phases. Firstly, we choose the pixel of 0 or 255 and construct the square window of order 3 such that the considered pixel is the center. Another, 0’s and 255’s pixels are replaced by a new value that computes from the remaining pixels of the considered window based on the Euclidean-like distance. Finally, we compare the performance of the standard median filter (MF), adaptive median filter (AMF), decisionbasedalgorithm(DBA),modifieddecisionbased unsymmetric trimmed median filter (MDBUTMF), improved mean filter (IMF), mean-strip window algorithm (MSW), and the proposed algorithm by using peak signal to noise ratio (PSNR) as a criterion. The results show that the performance of the proposed algorithm is better than the other algorithms in grayscale and color images in high density of noise.
