TURBULENT SINK FLOW BETWEEN TWO DISKS
The present work presents an investigation on the turbulent sink flow between two disks numerically. A fluid enters the radial channel at the outer peripheral gap and converges to the central hole in the disk. Navier-Stokes equations are simplified and a system of ordinary differential equations is obtained. The system of equations was solved using MATLAB function for solving boundary value problem. A method for computation of pressure using integral continuity equation is developed. The velocity and pressure fields are in good agreement with published experimental data. The result suggests that this flow depends on Reynolds number as well as on gap ratio.
