NUMERICAL STUDY OF TRANSFERS DURING THERMAL AND SOLUTAL CONVECTION IN AN INVERTED VERTICAL BRIDGMAN ENCLOSURE
This study presents a numerical investigation of transfers, during thermal and solutal convection in the liquid zone of an inverted vertical Bridgman cavity, containing a fluid characterized by a Prandtl number The steady Navier-Stokes, energy and mass conservation equations are written in formulation. Numerical resolution was made following: the classical finite difference method and a version of this method inspired by the finite volume technique for which we used four finite volume schemes to discretize the governing equations. Results allow us to prefer generally the formulation in finite difference. Depending on the mesh (coarse or finer), we can use a scheme of second order when proceeding with the finite volume inspired technique.
