ON CYCLIC FUNDAMENTAL GROUPS OF CLOSED POSITIVELY CURVED MANIFOLDS

Abstract:
Let  be a closed
positively curved n-manifold which admits an effective isometrical  -action.
The main results in this paper are: (1) If M is a space form and if 
for every even positive number 
then  is cyclic, (2) For general M,

is cyclic (this extends the results in [12] and [7]). |
