INVERSE PROBLEM OF STEADY HEAT CONDUCTION IN A CYLINDRICAL WALL WITH AXIAL-VARIABLE BOUNDARY CONDITIONS

Abstract: This work is concerned with the inverse problem of steady, two-dimensional, heat conduction in a hollow cylinder with axial-variable temperature and heat flux profiles on its external or internal surface. The infinite-series method is applied to solve the problem for arbitrary over-specified boundary temperature and heat flux profiles. Explicit expressions are derived for calculating the two-dimensional, temperature and heat flux distributions. The special problem case of an insulated boundary with specified temperature profile is considered the more realistic case. Validity of the proposed approach is tested. The method may be considered of a theoretical interest to the subject of steady heat conduction inverse problem. |
