Abstract: Numerical and experimental study is performed on unsteady laminar fluid flow transport phenomena around a pair of heated diamond-shaped cylinders in free stream. Emphasis is placed on the comparison of the flow patterns and thermal fields in side-by-side, tandem and staggered arrangements. It is found that (i) the generation of von Karman vortex streets occurs behind the diamond-shaped cylinders, (ii) correspondingly, the thermal diffusion is clarified from the numerical and experimental results whose nature is characterized by the cylinder arrangement, and (iii) the vortex appears in the downstream direction and in contrast the corresponding thermal diffusion occurs in the vicinity of the diamond cylinders. |
Keywords and phrases: thermal fluid flow, numerical visualization, PIV, thermography, twin diamond-shaped cylinders. |
