Abstract: The aim of this study is to calculate the instantaneous bubble rise velocity of two-phase flow (air-water) experimentally by using digital image processing technique. Using ordinary digital camera to digitize video for each flow pattern, the digitized video was converted to image frames and calculated the separation distance between two consecutive image frames. From known camera, shutter speed was led to calculate the instantaneous bubble velocity. Algorithms have been developed to obtain the coordinates of specified points in image analysis. These coordinates’ data were used to calculate the instantaneous bubble velocity for these points and their components. These points dispersed in middle and around the bubble. The results presented the velocity value of the bubble in the middle, and the velocity values of all the components around the bubble. |
