Abstract: The geometric shapes of heated surfaces at natural air convection are compared in the paper. A triangular and trapezoid profile with the same length and area of heat exchanging surfaces were used for the research. The method of holographic interferometry was used for the visualisation of the temperature field. The obtained images of holographic interferograms were analysed with the aim of obtaining the values of heat transfer coefficients alongside the profiles of 0.2 m length. The heat exchanging surfaces were heated to a constant temperature of 323.15K. On the basis of the qualitative and quantitative interferogram analysis, it is possible to conclude the triangular profile with sharp edge negatively affects the temperature field. For this reason, the study of geometric shapes and parameters is a significant factor in the design of heat exchanging surfaces. The experimentally obtained temperature fields in the proximity of shaped surfaces were subsequently complemented by CFD simulations. |
