Abstract: An experimental study was performed to investigate the combined effects of a tube pitch and the heat flux of a nearby tube on pool boiling heat transfer of a tube bundle. For the test, two smooth stainless steel tubes of 19mm outside diameter and the water at atmospheric pressure were used. The pitch was varied from 28.5mm to 95mm and the heat flux of the nearby tube was changed from 0 to The enhancement of the heat transfer was clearly observed when the heat flux of the nearby tube became larger and the heat flux of the test section was less than The effect of the tube pitch on heat transfer was negligible when the pitch was more than four times larger than the tube diameter. The major heat transfer mechanisms were considered as the convective flow, liquid agitation, bubble coalescence, and the interference of bubbles. |
