Abstract: This paper is concerned with the two parameter inverse Weibull distribution which is widely used as a model in life testing. Maximum likelihood equations are derived for estimating the distribution parameters from complete samples, single censored samples and multiple censored samples. Asymptotic variance covariance matrices are given for each of these sample types. A method for estimating the parameters based on the harmonic moments is proposed, we use the root mean square deviations (RMSD) to compare between these methods. Illustrative examples are included. |
Keywords and phrases: inverse Weibull distributions, maximum likelihood method, root mean square deviations, harmonic moments. |
