Abstract: Since thermal conductivity plays an important role in fin efficiency, we
tried to solve heat transfer equation with thermal conductivity as a function of
temperature. In this article, a new analytical method called He’s variational
iteration method (VIM) is introduced to be applied
to solve nonlinear heat transfer equations. In this method, a general
Lagrange multiplier is used to construct a correction functional for the
problem. After solving the equation, the temperature distribution is found via
two dimensionless parameters. Finally, the fin efficiency is obtained as a
function of thermal conductivity and fin dimensions. The results are compared
with those of Adomian’s Decomposition Method. As shown graphically, the results are in excellent agreement
with ADM results. The method has been
shown to effectively, easily and accurately solve a large class of nonlinear
heat transfer equations with approximations converging rapidly to accurate
solution. |
