Abstract: Use of power in many developing countries like Vietnam is increasing rapidly. However, electricity is primarily generated from coal which is based on thermal power plants that utilizes coal as their main fuel. Therefore, consumption fuel saving is one of the most important objectives to be presented in this paper.
A novel coordinated control structure for the thermal load system of coal-fired thermal power plants has been designed, which is combined with a genetic algorithm (GA) to optimize parameters of two main controllers in the thermal load system: steam pressure controller and power controller with optimal standards aimed at fast-tracking of setpoints and fuel saving. The achieved results in the paper are compared with the coordinated control structure which is currently operating at the Haiphong thermal power plant in both the cases: the system operates normally, and the system operates under a change of coal heating value. As a result, the proposed new coordinated control system with controllers optimized by genetic algorithms has proved superior in the target of fast-tracking the setpoints and less fuel consumption by the control system of the Haiphong thermal power plant. |
