Abstract: A wireless broadband demand forecasting Nepal based on Holt-Winter’s method has been presented in this paper. The mobile networks have to be able to meet these demands by upgrading and optimizing existing networks. Different studies predict significant 4G-LTE data traffic increase over the next five to 10 years. In this study, the historical data of broadband user’s demand is considered as time-series data, by means of observation to the field of telecom operator. The traffic is forecasted in the dense urban area of Nepal. The result shows that for the next five years, broadband users will increase by four times and volume consumption will increase by ten times. It can be shown that the forecasting model based on Holt-Winter’s method gives good result with the error of the estimated value is less than 10%. The results revealed that the demand of wireless broadband is increasing which helps operator to develop their broadband infrastructure accordingly, which is a step forward towards the readiness of broadband infrastructure in Nepal. The findings presented in this paper will be important to market planners and policy makers requiring a relatively simple technique that forecasts the wireless broadband demand. |
