Abstract: As the railway industrial technologies are advancing recently, the paradigm for the development of railway vehicles is shifting from conventional system to high-speed railway system. Therefore, differently from the form of conventional system, a number of design and operational problems are induced as the high-speed railway system got more complex and larger with highly advanced technology applied. In recent times, safety issue on the high-speed railway system is raising around the world because of the accidents that occur due to human errors during the operation of the system. In this context, we have tried with this research project to improve the safety of railway vehicles by eliminating potential human errors through the enhancement of work environment in driving cabs where engineers operate the trains. As for the research methods, we have tried to achieve the safety of railway vehicles by applying system engineering approach and various scientific approaches in an attempt to identify and implement system requirements in lifetime and hierarchical perspective. To put it more concretely, based on the requirements, where domestic standard was appropriately applied, that have been produced by designing requirement architecture for improving the work environment in driving cabs, we have applied the contents to related regulations and guideline as well as to the development of the assessment procedure. Also, it is expected that further studies in the future based on the result of this research would help secure system safety through the application of system engineering methodology upon developing high-speed railway systems along with other railway systems. |
